Fire at Kolkata airport reported on Tuesday, there was a major blaze at the ATC building. However, flight operations remained unaffected, said reliable reports.
According to reports, the fire reportedly broke out around 4 am on the extended open terrace area of the second floor of the ATC building at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport or the Kolkata Airport.
After noticing flames and smoke, airport personnel immediately alerted the fire services. Three fire tenders from the airport’s fire
service reached the spot and launched firefighting operations. The blaze was brought under control after nearly two hours of
efforts.
Reports say that, the incident has raised concern as the ATC building houses systems responsible for regulating aircraft movement. However reports added that, the fire did not affect flight operations and all scheduled flights continued unaffected.
A preliminary report suggests that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit. Fortunately, the fire was confined to the open portion of the building.
