Heavy rains continue in the state. In view of the heavy rains, schools closed in Odisha’s three districts. The District Collector has declared holidays in Sundargarh, Bhadrak and Mayurbhanj.
All government and private educational institutions in these districts will remain closed today. Therefore, precautionary measures have been taken by the district administration for the safety of students. Tuesday, the concerned BEOs can decide on the closure of schools in Badasahi, Betnati and Rasgobindpur blocks after observing the local situation.
According to the information of the District Education Officer, if any school area in other blocks is waterlogged or there is a problem in the movement of students and teachers due to the blockage of roads, then the concerned BEOs can decide to close those schools.
The low pressure formed in North Odisha-West Bengal coast has intensified further and turned into a depression. Due to this, heavy rain is likely to occur in the state for the next 3 days. An alert has been issued for heavy rain in North Coastal Odisha. The Meteorological Department has issued an Orange alert for some districts and a Yellow alert for all other districts. Heavy rains are expected in the state till August 21.
