They have protested against the exploitation of app companies like Ola, Uber, Rapido. The drivers’ association has put forward seven main demands before the government and the companies.
1. The government and the companies should jointly determine a minimum and maximum fare.
2. Stop blocking the accounts of online drivers without investigation. Previously blocked accounts should be unblocked immediately.
3. Drivers should be paid a fair fare for waiting for customers during the journey.
4. Compensation should be given for the extra time spent in traffic jams and loss of time.
5. If the customer cancels the ride, the full amount should be given to the driver.
6. It is mandatory for every app company to have a permanent office.
7. There should be a lock on the uncontrolled addition of new vehicles (over-supply) by app companies and an annual limited target should be set.
The forum has further warned that the service will not be resumed until their demands are met. This is a developing story, further detailed reports awaited.
