In a tragic and heart rending incident, there has been a major plane crash in Peru. At least 13 people were killed when a small
aircraft crashed in Peru, the police confirmed the reports.
The incident occurred as the aircraft was transporting tourists, to observe the famous Nazca Lines, a collection of historic archaeological sites. Among the deceased are tourists from Germany, Spain, and Italy.
According to ANI, “Dating back to between 500 BC and 500 AD, the site has been formally designated a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) due to its profound cultural value.
In a statement on Facebook on the plane crash in Peru, Nazca’s municipal government said, “the plane was taking tourists on a sightseeing flight of the Nazca Lines, a group of extensive geoglyphs scraped into the desert around Nazca hundreds of years ago by Peru’s Indigenous inhabitants. The lines form images of animals that can only be fully appreciated from planes or viewing towers.”
Peru’s Ministry for Trade and Tourism said that 11 “foreign tourists” and two crew members were on the plane that crashed. All the people onboard the aircraft died on the spot. An investigation has been initiated into the matter. Further detailed reports awaited.
