Flood relief in Odisha is underway on war footing. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is directly supervising the entire operation. The government is taking all possible steps to provide flood relief in Odisha to the affected people.
An X post in Odia on the official handle of the CM’s office roughly translates as follows, “Under the direct supervision of Hon’ble Chief Minister, the entire State machinery is working on a war footing to reach every flood-affected person with immediate support.” The post further read, “Rescue teams have been mobilised, relief delivery accelerated and all necessary arrangements put in place across the affected districts.”
The post added, “The Government is ensuring that no family is left behind and every possible effort is made to safeguard lives and bring normalcy back swiftly.”
The Chief Minister on his official X handle threw light on the flood relief in Odisha and wrote, “People’s safety and swift assistance in the flood situation are being accorded the highest priority.” He further added, “Rescue and relief operations are continuing on a war-footing. Our every effort to reach aid to each family remains unrelenting.”
The government is also undertaking various sensitization programs in areas that could be affected. It is creating awareness among the locals through mediums. The Special Relief Commission (SRC) government of Odisha took to X and said, “As part of the State Govt’s proactive awareness and preparedness measures, boat operators of the Balugaon and Barkul Boat Associations were sensitized and advised not to venture into Chilika Lake in view of the prevailing weather conditions”
Further the SRC added, “Keeping the flood situation in view, in the sensitive Gram Panchayats of Balianta Block, awareness and alert programs are being intensified through miking, and people are being advised to evacuate to the nearest shelter in necessary places.”
It is worth mentioning here that, the flood in Odisha has now become a matter of concern for the government as over two lakh people across six districts have already been affected. According to the Special Relief Commissioner of Odisha, “more than two lakh three thousand people in 748 villages have been affected, as many as 28 thousand residents have been evacuated.”
