As flood water enters Bhattarika Temple in Odisha, the famous goddess Maa Bhattarika in Badamba area of Cuttack district in Odisha had to be shifted to a safer place, said reports on Thursday.
Reports further confirmed that, the presiding deity was shifted to a higher place after flood water from the Mahanadi River entered the sanctum sanctorum or the Garba Gruha of the much-revered Hindu temple.
It is further worth mentioning that, since floodwater entered the Bhattarika Temple the temple administration and the head priest decided to shift the presiding deity so that the rituals can be continued without hassles. Notably the water level continued to rise further after entering the sanctum sanctorum.
Meanwhile, the local administration and the government is on high alert to tackle the likely flood situation which has been caused due to continuous rain in the upper catchment of the Mahanadi River.
It is worth mentioning here that the CM is regularly supervising the flood relief operation. The CM took to his X handle and wrote about the flood situation in Odisha and assured people that the government is taking all possible measures. He wrote in Odia and it roughly translates as, “The life and safety of every citizen of the state is of utmost importance to us. I and my government are closely monitoring the situation arising out of the incessant rains and the flood situation in some rivers.”
He also said, “I have discussed the flood situation and its management with the Chief Secretary and the Special Relief Commissioner. I have directed the entire administration to ensure the safety of the people in the affected areas.”
He further added, “I request you, do not panic or get panicked at all; we are with you at every step. Follow the instructions of the administration and stay safe.”
The flood in Odisha has now become a matter of concern for the government as over two lakh people across six districts have already been affected.
