All the schools closed in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. The categories include Primary and Upper Primary Schools, High Schools, Higher Secondary Schools including Government, Government Aided, OAVs, Private schools under Mayurbhanj District will be closed.
The Mayurbhanj district administration has directed all Block Education Officials (BEOs) to close the schools today that is on August 13 due to heavy rain in the district.
The official letter read as follows, “In view of the heavy rainfall occurred last night and continuing till now and as per the direction of the Collector & District Magistrate, Mayurbhanj, all BEOs are hereby requested to instruct the Headmasters/Headmistresses of all types (Govt., Govt. Aided and Private) schools (Primary to Higher Secondary) under their jurisdiction to close the schools today (13.08.2026) as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students.”
However the staff were directed to remain present, “However, all Headmasters, Headmistresses, Principals, and Teachers shall attend their respective schools as usual to disseminate the information regarding the closure to all students and their parents/guardians through available communication channels, including class WhatsApp groups, phone calls, SMS, etc, so that no student comes to school,”
It is worth mentioning that, heavy to very heavy rain has been predicted in Odisha due to a fresh low pressure over the Bay of Bengal.
