Odisha jail uniform allowance increased two-fold for all jail staff, said reliable reports. The state government has approved a two-fold increase in the annual uniform allowance for officers and employees of the prison department.
This proposal has been approved by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. As per the decision, the annual uniform allowance for 378 officers from the jail DIAG to Assistant Matron has been increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000.
Similarly, the uniform allowance for 2,122 head warders, warders and women warders has been increased from Rs 4,000 to Rs 8,000. A total of 2,500 jail officers and employees will benefit from the revised allowance.
Officials said that the new uniform allowance will be implemented from the current financial year. An additional expenditure of Rs 96.22 lakh will be incurred every year. This decision of the government will be implemented from the current financial year. As a result, eligible jail employees and officers will get the increased clothing allowance from this year.
