Odisha government to provide Bidesh Sikhya Bruti scholarship for SC and ST students to study abroad, said latest reports. The information in this regard was published on the X post of the Higher Education Department of Government of Odisha.
The notice of the Government read as follows, “The Government of Odisha has introduced a new scheme for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students desiring to pursue postgraduate and Ph.D. courses in the top 200 QS-ranked foreign institutes and universities (as per the latest available QS rankings at the time of application submission).”
“Students having an annual family income of up to Rs. 12.00 lakh are eligible to avail of the benefits under this scheme, which will support a total of 50 SC and ST students. Interested students desiring to avail of the scholarship under the above scheme are advised to submit their application for the academic year 2025-2026 and 2026-27 through the OSS Portal starting from 18.08.2026 to 31.08.2026. The detailed “Bidesh Sikhyabruti” guidelines can be viewed on the website of the Higher Education Department.” the notice further read.
The Bidesh Sikhyabruti scholarship scheme is a State-sector scholarship programme targeted exclusively at SC and ST students domiciled in Odisha. A student will get this benefit only once either for PG or Ph.D. Course
The scheme is structured to support 50 students per year, distributed across various streams and disciplines. The support under this scheme is comprehensive and includes tuition fees, living expenses, and other incidental costs associated with studying abroad.
An upper ceiling ofa Rs.25 lakhs per course per student per year is fixed for both PC and Ph. D courses. Financial assistance for PG courses shall be provided for I year or 2 years depending on the duration and for Ph.D courses it will be fbr 2 years. Beyond 2 years there would not be any further extension of the assistance from the Department.
