elephant herd in Keonjhar

A massive elephant herd in Keonjhar district of Odisha created a traffic jam on National Highway.  Vehicular movement disrupted after elephant herd remained on NH-20 for a long time.

This scene was witnessed near Dalita on Rimuli-Champua National Highway 20 in Keonjhar district. A herd of 25 elephants stood on the road for a long time while crossing the national highway. As the elephants did not move away from the road, the vehicular movement was disrupted on both sides of the road.

On receiving information, forest department officials reached the spot and alerted people. After a long time, the elephant herd crossed the road and entered the forest, and vehicular movement became normal.

According to the information, the elephant herd was crossing the national highway to move from the forest area to the other side. However, since the elephants remained in the middle of the road for a long time, vehicular movement stopped on both sides.

A large number of vehicles had stopped on both sides of the road. After a long time, the elephant herd crossed the road and entered the forest again. After this, the traffic on the national highway returned to normal. The eyewitnesses on the NH were in a state of shock and excitement.
