Lord Dhabaleswar darshan closed in Athgarh of Cuttack district in Odisha due to a continuous rise in the water level in river Mahanadi. The administration has decided to take this step as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident.
The notice issued in this regard read as follows, “Due to heavy rising of floodwater and swelling of water level in the River Mahanadi, it is hereby ordered as a public safety measure that the entry of devotees and visitors to Lord Dhabaleswar Pitha shall not be allowed for the next 48 hours starting Thursday afternoon (i.e. from 4.00 PM of 30.07.2026 up to the 4.00 PM of August 1), until further orders.”
Further the notification stated, “The Athagarh tehsildar and Gurudijhatia PS IIC are directed to ensure strict compliance and enforcement of the above order without fail. Any deviation from this order should be reported immediately to the undersigned for taking appropriate action.”
The step has been taken as a precautionary measure as in the holy month of Shravan huge number of devotees throng the temple. The temple is connected to land via a bridge on the river Mahanadi, hence the said step has been taken.
However it is worth mentioning here that, the rituals and the daily prayers in the temple shall continue as usual.
