The The Jagannath temple job fraud was exposed recently when the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) found a number of appointment letters circulating online. The appointment letters were for the ‘Jagannath Temple Squad’ and had the forged signature of Chief Administrator of SJTA.
According to reports as many as 16 people fell victim to the Jagannath temple job fraud. Following several complaints, the SJTA lodged a formal report at the Singhadwar police station. It is to be noted here that, the letters bore the carefully forged signature of the Chief Administrator of SJTA Arabinda Padhee. The fake letters also had the seal of the Odisha Home Department.
It is further worth mentioning that, the SJTA confirmed that no such advertisement, recruitment or appointment for the ‘Jagannath Temple Squad’ had been made.
Further, the main accused in the case of the SJTA job fraud has been arrested by the police. He has been booked under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) such as: Sec. 319(2) cheating by impersonating a person, 318(4) embezzlement of money or property, 336(3) tampering with digital records and 340(2) using a document for malicious purposes even though knowing it to be fake. The police is still investigating the matter and trying to search other associates of the accused.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration further cautioned the public. It urged them not to fall prey to such fraud and to verify such claims on their official website or through valid government channels. Further detailed reports awaited in this regard.
