The Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar has issued weather alerts for several districts of Odisha over heavy rain forecast for the next 5 days.
The department has issued a yellow warning to 13 districts and has cautioned about lightning, thunderstorm and moderate to heavy rainfall in places like Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Nayagarh, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, and Kandhamal.
The IMD has advised people to remain alert during the periods of heavy rain and check their routes before leaving for their destinations as heavy rain might cause water logging in low lying areas and near underpasses.
The rainfall is expected to continue under the influence of the southwest monsoon and hence the authorities have advised people to follow safety instructions and stay updated with official forecasts.
