Keonjhar: At least 18 people were injured, as a private bus carrying around 50 passengers overturned on Kanjipani ghat road near Telkoi in Keonjhar district on Monday.
The bus, which was on its way to Rourkela from Keonjhar faced a brake failure after crossing Kanjipani ghat and finally overturned near the Kusum Ghat. However, a major tragedy was averted due to the driver’s presence of mind.
As many as 18 passengers were injured in the accident and have been admitted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Telkoi. None of them have serious injuries and their condition is stated to be stable.
On being informed about the incident, a team from the Telkoi police station rushed to the spot and removed the bus from the road. They further rescued the injured passengers and sent them to nearby hospital.
