Rain in Odisha to continue due to the effect of low pressure in Bay of Bengal. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in almost 15 districts of the state today.
There is a clear low pressure area that will bring rain over North Odisha. Orange warning has been issued for three districts and Yellow warning for eight districts for rain in Odisha.
According to the MeT department, a clear low pressure area is active over Gangetic West Bengal, North Coastal Odisha, Jharkhand and Northwest Bay of Bengal. It is likely to move west-northwestwards through North Odisha and Jharkhand in the next 48 hours.
For Wednesday, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts. Orange warning has been issued for these districts.
Similarly, heavy rainfall is likely in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul and Subarnapur districts. Yellow warning has been issued for these districts.
IMD has issued a few important instructions
Urban areas, low-lying areas may have water logging, and roads/drains May be submerged under water. In case of very heavy rain, people of low-lying areas may be shifted to safer Locations temporarily.
Urban local bodies must keep the drains/stormwater channels de-congested, and adequate de-watering pumps may be deployed as per requirement.
People may be advised to keep watch on the weather and take safe shelter. During the thunderstorm activity to protect from lightning and follow traffic advisories in urban areas.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall recorded may be reported immediately to this office. Submit report on damage, if occurred due to thunderstorm, whirlwind, Hailstorm, lightning and heavy rainfall immediately.
