Rengali Dam

Another gate of the Rengali Dam in Odisha has been opened. Flood water is being discharged through a total of three gates.

Water was being discharged through two gates since August 10. Now another gate has been opened as the water level at the upper end is rising sharply.

The dam’s water storage capacity is 123.50 meters, while the current water level is 122.74 meters.

Reports say that 4,620 cubic meters of water is entering every second. 5,215.34 cubic meters of water is being discharged through the three gates and the power channel every second.

The administration is alerting the people living along the riverbanks. The water resources department authorities have informed that more gates are likely to be opened in the future as rain continues at the upper end.
