Rare conjoined twins born in Odisha at MKCG die due to various complications, said reliable reports on Sunday. A rare ‘twin-headed’ baby was born at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur of Ganjam district.

The baby, who was born on October 12, was struggling for life right since birth. The baby had two heads but one body. He had one heart, two arms and two legs. Such a baby is very rare in medical science.

Since the baby had two heads in one body, the baby’s health was very critical from the moment of birth. Due to the serious condition of the baby, the MKCG Medical Authorities immediately formed a special medical team. The baby was undergoing various tests and continuous treatment under the supervision of a pediatrician.

However the conjoined twins born in Odisha succumbed due to the pressure of two brains and the body’s blood circulation on a single heart. Due to the incomplete development of the limbs, the baby’s condition steadily deteriorated. Despite all the efforts of the doctors, the baby finally breathed his last.

This was the first child of the couple of Tidipada village under Tumjibandh block of Kandhamal district. The family had high hopes upon the arrival of their first child after marriage. But the condition of the baby and the news of his death have created an atmosphere of mourning in the family.
