Heavy rain in Odisha

Rain in Odisha is likely yet again as another low pressure is predicted to be formed soon. According to the regional MeT Office here in Bhubaneswar, a low pressure area is likely to form in the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjacent north Odisha coast around August 22 and August 23.

Reports say that, Under its influence, rain in Odisha will increase again from August 22. Due to this, active subsidence will occur in Jharkhand and adjacent north Gangetic West Bengal basin areas. In the last 6 hours, it is moving west-northwestwards at a speed of 12 km per hour.

The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert with the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in four districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Bargarh under its influence.

In addition, a yellow alert has been issued for heavy rainfall with lightning in Mayurbhanj, Kendujhar, Devgarh, Angul, Boudh, Sonepur and Bolangir.
