Popular as ‘pond boy Iqbal’ this teen from Murshidabad in West Bengal spends most of his time in the pond. He has a strange skin condition that gets aggravated when he comes out of water.
The ‘pond boy Iqbal’ has severe burning sensation as soon as he steps out of water. Strange as it may sound, the local doctors have not been able to find a cure to his condition.
Further, due to abject poverty the family of the boy has not been able to provide him necessary medical attention. Hence out of despair, the only solution that could be found was that the boy had to spend days, sometimes weeks inside water.
Given his strange condition many used to think he is possessed and offer him popped rice and biscuits near the banks of the pond.
Recently, a video of him inside water went viral. The video somehow found its way to Anant Ambani who offered help. The boy was airlifted and is now being offered specialized treatment at Mumbai’s Reliance Foundation Hospital.
