Odisha CM on maintenance said that, the amount shall be deducted directly from government employees’ salary in case of default.
Odisha government has ordered automatic deduction of court-mandated maintenance directly from the employee who defaults payment. Defaulting employees salaries shall be directly deducted. The move of the CM of Odisha aims to enforce compliance and provide timely relief to divorced women and their children.
In the last CM grievance cell meeting the CM heard almost two to three cases of state government employees not paying the maintenance to their estranged wives. The CM took strict note of the matter and decided to take concrete steps in this matter.
Odisha CM on maintenancev order further said that, being a state government employee and being in contempt of court order and mistreatment of divorced women and children is completely unacceptable. The Human Resource Management System has been asked to assist in this matter. There shall be proper system in place that will deduct the amount from the government employee and deposit it to the wife’s account.
