According to reliable reports, a 60-year-old man died after being burnt in a fire while sleeping in a locked room. His son, narrowly escaped as he was sleeping in a separate room. The incident occurred late last night in the Rourkela Railway Colony.

The Plant Site police have initiated an investigation to determine the cause and origin of the fire. The man was living with his wife and son. However the incident took place when, his wife had gone to their daughter’s house a few days earlier due to ill health.

After having dinner last night the man went to sleep in one room, while his son went to sleep in another. Around 2 AM, neighbors noticed Jitendra’s house on fire, they raised an alarm and called out to his son.

However by then it was too late, the son and the neighbors attempted to bring the fire under control and rescue the man, but they were unable to save him. The house was locked from the inside hence the man perished in the fire before the fire brigade could arrive. A pall of gloom descended on the family following the incident.
