Heavy to very heavy rain alert issued in Odisha for next 24 hours has been issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Giving the weather forecast, IMD informed that there is a heavy to very heavy rain alert in Odisha. Along with Odisha rain has been predicted in Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh in the next 24 hours.
The rain in Odisha and the four other states is likely in view of a low-pressure formation in Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand.
Keeping in view the rains, the IMD has issued a few important instructions:
Urban areas, low-lying areas may have water logging, and roads/drains May be submerged under water. In case of very heavy rain, people of low-lying areas may be shifted to safer Locations temporarily.
Urban local bodies must keep the drains/stormwater channels de-congested, and adequate de-watering pumps may be deployed as per requirement.
People may be advised to keep watch on the weather and take safe shelter. During the thunderstorm activity to protect from lightning and follow traffic advisories in urban areas.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall recorded may be reported immediately to this office. Submit report on damage, if occurred due to thunderstorm, whirlwind, Hailstorm, lightning and heavy rainfall immediately.
