Heavy rain in Odisha has been predicted by the MeT department on Sunday. A yellow warning has been sounded for as many as 21 districts in the State.
The heavy rain in Odisha is expected to continue for another 24 hours. The MeT department has issued a warning for Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Balangir, Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar on Sunday issued a yellow warning, cautioning people about heavy rain accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours.
The MeT Department has advised people to remain alert during the periods of heavy rain and check their routes before leaving for their destinations as heavy rain might cause water logging in low lying areas and near underpasses.
The rainfall is expected to continue under the influence of the southwest monsoon and hence the authorities have advised people to follow safety instructions and stay updated with official forecasts.
