Flood like situation in Odisha prevailed and the state Odisha remained on high flood alert. As there was incessant rain triggered by a low-pressure system in Bay of Bengal, rains are being witnessed continuously.
Acording to reports, rivers across the state continue to swell. Majorly, rivers Baitarani and Budhabalanga rivers are yet again posing a fresh threat in northern districts of Odisha.
According to reports on Friday, river Baitarani has crossed the danger mark at Akhuapada in Bhadrak. This has led to inundation of downstream areas and marooning of several villages in Bhandaripokhari are of Bhadrak.
With another low-pressure system likely to form around August 20, the government authorities are on high alert. All possible steps are being taken to reduce losses caused due to floods. People are being evacuated and shifted to shelters. The rapid response teams have been kept on standby.
