Cargo ship sinks near Paradip, a Chinese ship joins Coast Guard in search operation. Reports say that, the Indian Navy will be helped by the Chinese ship in the search and rescue operation.
It is worth mentioning here that, the ship ‘MV Ocean Winner’ suddenly sunk in the Bay of Bengal on August 22. The incident took place around 240 nautical miles of the coast off Paradip in Odisha.
Reports say that there were 24 crew members onboard the ill-fated ship. However, two members were rescued on the day of the wreck but all other are still missing.
Finding the remaining crew members is now the top priority of the rescue team. INS Varad and ICGS Anmol were immediately deployed in the search and rescue mission. Later however, ICGS Vijit joined them in the operation.
The crew of the MV Ocean Winner had 20 Chinese nationals, three people from Myanmar and one from Bangladesh. The ship was en route from Paradip to Singapore when it ran into rough waters in north Bay of Bengal. The operation has been intensified. Further details awaited.
