Jagannath temple to remain closed

Puri Srimandir to remain closed for five hours tomorrow that is on Wednesday said reliable reports in this regard. Reports say that, the temple shall be closed from 5 pm to 10 pm today informed the Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration (SJTA).

Reportedly, the SJTA decided to keep the Jagannath temple closed for ‘Shrabana Krushna Amabasya tithi, Chitalagi Niti of the Deities will be performed.

The official X post of SJTA read, “On Wednesday, 12th August 2026, Shrabana Krushna Amabasya tithi, Chitalagi Niti of the Deities will be performed.

Therefore, after the completion of first Bhoga Mandapa offering, public darshan will remain temporarily suspended from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM.”

The public darshan will resume after the completion of the ritual, informed SJTA. The ritual will be carried out by the servitors from 2 pm onwards.

The ritual in the Jagannath Temple in Puri will continue for four to five hours said reports. People will not be allowed to enter the temple during this time. Further detailed reports awaited in this regard.
