The western disturbance will have an impact on the southwest monsoon winds leading to heavy rainfall in Odisha. Meanwhile, a cyclone zone is active in North Odisha and adjoining areas.
Due to its influence, the MeT has estimated that a low pressure area is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours. Heavy rains in Odisha is likely for the next two days. Warning for heavy rainfall in Odisha has been issued by the MeT Department.
The regional Meteorological center has issued a red warning for Mayurbhanj district for heavy rain. Similarly, an orange warning has been issued for 14 districts of Odisha for heavy to very heavy rain. Orange warning has been issued for Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Subarnapur, Boudh, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati and Ganjam districts. Yellow warning has been issued for heavy rain in 15 other districts.
The MeT Department has advised people to remain alert during the periods of heavy rain and check their routes before leaving for their destinations as heavy rain might cause water logging in low lying areas and near underpasses.
The rainfall is expected to continue under the influence of the southwest monsoon and hence the authorities have advised people to follow safety instructions and stay updated with official forecasts.
