Apple is irreplaceable when matter comes to adding new feature upgrades for its devices and this time the Cupertino giant has done something so that will really make you happy. Earlier, during the WWDC 2026 keynote in June, the company had mentioned about the ‘iPhone Handoff’ feature which was scheduled to be launched along side hundreds of other features in the iOS 27. But nothing was revealed in particular.
But a recent video from the MacRumors forum member pdfu demonstrates how to use the ‘iPhone Handoff’ feature on two iPhone devices with the same phone number. This might seem bit awkward, but the fact is the feature will work only on two simulated iPhones running in Xcode 27’s Device Hub.
How to use ‘iPhone Handoff’ feature
As shown in the video, the iPhone Handoff feature can be set up from the Settings app, under the Cellular menu. During the set up process, the users have to decide which iPhone to make their primary device and which iPhone as the companion device. Reportedly, the main iPhone will carry the main eSIM and the companion iPhone the companion eSIM. This will allow the users to switch between the devices back and forth while using the same phone number.
To use the feature, the users will need two iPhones running iOS 27 with carrier support. While using the feature, all cellular settings will be managed on the main iPhone and location sharing will be based on the iPhone that actively uses the phone number. Reportedly, T-Mobile in the U.S. and Deutsche Telekom in Germany might be among the first carriers that will first offer the feature.
The iOS 27 is now under testing phase and is expected to release later this month after three months of beta testing.
