There was flood in Jajpur district of Odisha as the Baitarani river overflowed for the fifth time this monsoon season. Reports say, the Baitarani river is flowing above the danger mark near Akhuapada.
Ii is worth mentioning here that, the danger mark is 18.33 meters, but now the flood water is flowing at 18.75 meters. The water level is also above the danger mark near Ballabighat and Dasharathpur. Jajpur and Dasharathpur blocks are particularly affected by the Baitarani flood.
As many as 19 panchayats are under water in Dasharathpur. The flood water has entered the village again through the upper roads. Flooding has been seen in the village streets yet again. Many families have taken shelter on the embankments. And some families are spending their lives on rooftops. Their farmlands have been completely destroyed in the flood.
Reports say that many areas of Bari, Binjharpur, Rasulpur blocks are still waterlogged. Schools have been closed in the flood-affected areas of the district today. All schools in Bari, Binjharpur, Dasharathpur and Jajpur blocks will remain closed till further notice. Further details awaited.
