The flood in Assam this year has been severe and has caused largescale damage to life and livelihood of people in the state. It is worth mentioning here that that the aftermath of the flood is even worse. Knew deep silt has covered most of the areas. It has become difficult even to place foot. House have been washed away by the gushing waters.
According to ANI reports in the Sivasagar district of Assam flood situation has affected Kamalchapori village in a severe manner. Hundreds of families have been rendered homeless, with many losing their homes, household belongings, livestock, and all means of livelihood.
A local spoke to ANI about the flood in Assam and said, “This time the water that surged in destroyed everything, it leveled our homes completely. We are left with nothing of our own anymore.” He further added, “It took everything from us, we barely managed to save our lives. At that moment, we did not know what to do or how to react, we just barely managed to get out alive, and we couldn’t comprehend anything. He informed, “There are over 150 people in our village. Even by a conservative estimate, at least a hundred homes have been destroyed.”
It has been reported by various media sources that more than 70 people have died in the flood in Assam. This is touted to be one of the worst flood that the State has ever seen in years. Several homes along with the belonging have been said to have been swept away in the raging waters. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the authorities are working relentlessly to better the situation. However the Indian MeT Department has issued fresh rain alerts for a few areas in the state.
