They were heading home for Nuakhai when tragedy struck. A mother and her son died in a horrific accident, while the father sustained critical injuries.
The accident occurred at Khinda, under the jurisdiction of the Telkoi police station in Sambalpur. A truck rammed into their motorcycle from behind. The mother and son died on the spot, and the father has been hospitalized in critical condition.
The couple, along with their infant son, was traveling by motorcycle to their home in Lakhanpur of Jharsuguda district, to celebrate the Nuakhai festival.
Following the incident of the bike accident in Sambalpur, agitated locals blocked National Highway 10 (connecting Jharsuguda and Sambalpur), causing significant disruption to traffic.
Intense resentment prevailed among the local residents over the tragedy. The police arrived at the scene, pacified the agitated crowd, and have initiated an investigation into the accident.
