Queue based darshan in Jagannath Temple

The Jagannath temple in Puri will remain closed for almost five hours for devotees on Wednesday. The servitors will perform the  Rahurekha Lagi Niti or ritual.

The SJTA shared on their official X handle and informed, “On Wednesday, 02.09.2026, Bhadraba Krushna Panchami tithi, the Rahurekha Lagi Niti of the Deities will be performed. Accordingly, after completion of the first Bhoga Mandapa offering, public darshan will remain temporarily suspended from approximately 2:30 PM to 7:00 PM.”

Darshan of Mahaprabhu will be closed for devotees during this time. This ritual takes about five hours to complete. The special servitor groups are engaged to do the rituals.

This Rahurekha, made of gold-plated metal, will be applied to the deities to make their faces look fresh and beautiful. The ritual of applying Rahurekha will begin after the first Bhoga mandap is completed.

On the day of Snana Purnima, after bathing in 108 pots of water and suffering from a cold, the Rahu Rekha was removed from the face of the divine trinity. After the completion of the Rahurekha Nitī, there will be Mahasnana of the Lords. Following this, the public darshan will begin again.
