The Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test or OSSTET exam has been conducted amidst tight security. As many as 59,353 candidates have appeared for this exam in 261 examination centers in 30 districts.
The exam was conducted from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. Candidates are appearing for this exam to qualify as a teacher at the secondary level.
Emphasis has been placed on conducting the exam in a clean and orderly manner. There is CCTV in each center. A command control room has been opened in the board office to monitor the exam schedule. There are two papers in OSSTET exam. Generally, Paper-1 is for TGT and other specified categories of teachers and Paper-2 is for Physical Education teachers.
Since this is an eligibility test, success in OSSTET itself does not guarantee appointment to any teaching post. Other prescribed qualifications and recruitment process are also required for appointment. OSSTET is conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha or BSE.
