Lingaraj temple rituals

Lingaraj Temple rituals have been disrupted yet again and Lord Lingaraj has not been offered bhoga or food. Disruption of rituals in the temple has taken place due to the dispute between the servants.

Reports say that, the rituals have been stopped since last night. Due to the internal conflict between the sevayats and the disputes among themselves, all the rituals and rituals have been stopped since 11 pm yesterday.

There has been a dispute between the Puja Panda sevayats and Suara sevayats regarding the rituals. This has resulted in the rituals being stopped completely since 11 pm yesterday.

This news has angered devotees and they have strongly condemned such actions of the sevayats. It is worth mentioning here that, a similar incident had taken place on the first Monday of Shravan or the holy Shravan Somwar.

Reports say that Lord Shiva has not been offered food since the evening hours on Sunday. This has reportedly occurred due to a conflict between the two important groups of sevayats in the temple.

The news of the rituals being halted at Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar was a rude shock to devotees who have been waiting for the holy Shravan Somwar for a darshan of Lord Shiva. The conflict was between the ‘Puja Panda’ sevayats and the ‘Badu’ sevayats.

It pertained to the ‘Shravan Pauna’ or the payment for the month of Shravan. Hence, the Lord had not been offered ‘bhoga’ or food since Sunday evening. The devotees (Kanwariyas) however offered water to Lord Shiva without proper puja.

This incident had shocked the devotees and led to major discontentment among them.
