In a rare turn of events, Indian women’s cricket team refuses trophy after beating Sri Lanka in Asia Cup final. This happened because the women’s cricket team refused to accept Asia Cup trophy from ACC President Mohsin Naqvi.
Reports say that, the Indian Captain Smriti Mandhana saw him on the stage and walked straight back. The whole stadium then started chanting slogans.
According to reliable reports, after beating Sri Lanka in the 2026 Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup final, the Indian Team refused to accept the Asia Cup trophy from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President and Pakistan’s interior minister, Mohsin Naqvi.
The Indian cricket coach Amol Muzumdar said in a post-match press conference supported the stance. He added that the decision has been taken by the BCCI. And it shall be adhered to. He further added, the tournament is over and the team is the champion and that is what matter the most.
