There is a major discussion relating to and impending cyclone in Odisha. An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over North Thailand on September 18, extending up to 9.4 kilometres above sea level.
Reports further add that it is likely to emerge over the North Andaman Sea around the evening of September 18. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region around the evening of September 19. However nothing is clear about the likely cyclone in Odisha yet.
MeT further adds, the formation is likely to intensify gradually and move west-northwestward towards the south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts during the subsequent three to four days. There will be rainfall across all districts of Odisha, accompanied by thunderstorms.
Reports say that, as many as twenty districts have been issued a yellow alert. All of these districts will experience rain along with lightning and thunderstorms.
Furthermore, sources say that the government of Odisha is prepared for any eventuality and is keeping a close watch on the movement of the cyclonic circulation that is currently hovering near Thailand.
The Government is taking stock of the situation every hour. It is also waiting for the final assessment by the IMD for the cyclone in Odisha. Discussions have been held with IMD officials and their regional representatives in Odisha.
On the other hand, all District Collectors have been directed to remain fully prepared to face any kind of situation.
