In the latest on cyclone Arnab update, Chief Secretary Anu Garg has put Coastal and Southern Odisha Collectors on high alert.
According to reports, the low-pressure system is likely to intensify into a deep depression. This was said the Chief Secretary Anu Garg while interacting with the media earlier today.
She also informed that the heavy rain in Odisha is likely to affect as many as 11 districts. If the weather updates are to be taken into consideration, rain is likely to begin from September 22.
Further it is worth mentioning here that on the cyclone, heavy rainfall is being expected from September 23 to September 24. The residents of the low-lying areas have been asked to be careful.
Reports further add that Coastal and southern Odisha Collectors have been put on alert. They have been asked to remain vigilant and inform the Government in case of any sudden emergency.
On the other hand, the Indravati and Telengiri Dam authorities asked open damn gates and to reduce the water levels. So that the dams can accommodate water incase it rains heavily in the upper catchment area.
It is worth mentioning here that, low pressure may take the form of a depression today in Odisha. It is likely to reach the South Odisha-North Andhra coast on September 23.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the low pressure area active in the Bay of Bengal may intensify further today and take the form of a depression.
