Commissionerate police of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar has urged citizens to say no to forced puja chanda or extortion money. The police has issued a helpline number and asked people to lodge complaint in case of forced puja chanda or extortion money collection.

According to reliable reports, the Bhubaneswar Urban Police Department (UPD) has taken a zero-tolerance policy for extortion. They have formed an action plan ahead of the upcoming festive season.

The Commissionerate Police has urged the denizens of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to immediately report to the police in case of forced collection of Puja Chanda or extortion money and has requested people to contact the Commissionerate Police immediately.

Furthermore, the Commissionerate Police has issued a toll free number 8280338302. This is for reporting of collection of dada batti, puja chanda or any form of extortion money.

The full name and address of the complainant will be kept safe. It shall not be revealed anywhere by the police, people were assured.

Reports say that, Commissionerate is in action mode before the two major festivals that is Ganesh Puja and Durga Puja. Special teams are formed to catch professional criminals and mischief mongers.
