In a tragic and heart rendering incident, a bus fire on Yamuna expressway killed as many as nine people. The incident took place in the wee hours of Thursday.
A bus was going from Kashmiri Gate, New Delhi, to Mahoba at night and caught fire near Jewar, said reliable reports. As many as four fire tenders and rescue teams reached the spot and evacuated 20-25 passengers safely.
It is tragic that as many as nine people died due to suffocation and fire injuries. According to reports, the bus fire on Yamuna expressway took place due to smoking. The FIR says passengers smelled burning inside while the driver and cleaner allegedly kept smoking.
Probable Cause Of The Bus Fire On Yamuna Expressway
According to the FIR, when the passengers objected to smoking inside the bus, the driver and conductor kept laughing and threatened passengers to stay quiet.
Later, the fire engulfed the entire bus, leading to a major accident. It is suspected that the fire started from the bus engine on Yamuna Expressway. A case has been registered, and the driver and conductor have been arrested. Further investigation is underway. Detailed reports awaited in this matter.
It is worth mentioning here that the incident has been condoled by the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He has taken to X and said, “The loss of lives in the tragic fire accident on a bus on the Yamuna Expressway is extremely heartbreaking and soul-wrenching.”
The CM added, “My condolences are with the bereaved families. I pray to Lord Shri Ram that He grants place at His divine feet to the departed souls and bestows swift recovery to the injured.”
Further, an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased has been granted by the UP government.
