Chamoli: Tunnel in Chamoli filled with water and debris, search still underway for two missing workers. The search and rescue operation for workers who went missing following the accident at the under-construction THDC tunnel in Mayapur (Pipalkoti) on August 13 continues unabated.
According to reports, during the rescue operation, SDRF and other rescue agencies are continuing their search today for the two missing workers. The operation remains challenging due to the accumulation of water and debris inside the tunnel.
Despite these difficulties in the tunnel in Chamoli, rescue teams are continuously searching the identified potential locations with the help of available resources and technical equipment.
It is worth mentioning here that, the incident took place on August 13 and till date as many as eight workers have died. Search still continues for two more.
Post the incident of the tunnel in Chamoli getting filled with water and debris Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami spoke over the phone with the Chief Ministers of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
He informed them the details regarding the incident involving the ingress of debris and water into the under-construction THDC tunnel at Mayapur (Peepalkoti) in Chamoli district.
According to reliable reports, CM Dhami apprised both Chief Ministers of the situation concerning workers from their respective states who were trapped inside the tunnel.
He informed them that the Uttarakhand government acted swiftly and launched relief and rescue operations on a war footing. As a result, 16 workers have been safely rescued so far, while all necessary efforts are continuing to rescue the remaining affected workers.
