Leaves of Odisha government employees cancelled for the next three days as the MeT has predicted heavy rainfall. Keeping this in mind an as a precautionary step the Chief Secretary of Odisha Anu Garg has cancelled leaves of all government employees.
It is worth mentioning here that there is a possibility of heavy rain in the state from today till August 18. The Meteorological Department has issued a red warning for four districts of the State. In this regard, the District Collectors of all these districts have been alerted. The Leaves of Odisha government employees cancelled for the next three days as the MeT has predicted heavy rainfall. Three senior officers have been sent to Bhadrak, Balasore and Jajpur to assist the District Collectors.
The Water Resources Department has sent special officers to various places. A total of 49 blocks, 331 panchayats, 515 thousand people have been affected. 293 camps have been set up and food has been provided to the flood-affected. 36 fire teams and 90 NDRF teams have been deployed for this. More officers will be sent there if required.
Tata Power has been asked to remain on high alert for the heavy rain situation. In addition, the Health Department team is visiting all the camp areas. They are providing health services along with water testing. Anti-snakebite medicine has been stocked everywhere. Awareness is being raised about the crocodile menace in Bhadrak district.
The government is making people aware through public address systems. The water level in almost all the rivers is increasing again. There is a possibility of floods due to incessant rainfall. The government is aware of this. The district collector has been instructed to be on alert in this regard, said Chief Secretary Anu Garg.
