Heavy rain in Odisha

Heavy rain in Odisha is likely due to Low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal on Wednesday. The cyclone formed in the north-west Bay of Bengal and adjacent areas is said to be active. The cyclone, which has spread up to 7.6 km above sea level, is moving towards the southwest. It is likely to intensify further and a low pressure area is likely to form today.

According to MeT estimates, heavy to very heavy rainfall. It may occur in some places in the state from August 13 till August 17.

An orange warning has been issued for Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur districts till 8:30 am today due to the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange warning for Angul and Keonjhar for very heavy rainfall between 8:30 am tomorrow.

Winds reaching 40 to 50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph is expected along the Odisha coast and adjacent sea areas till August 15. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea as the sea is likely to remain very rough.
