Anant Ambani has reportedly offered to fund the Rs. 9 crore treatment of 23-month-old Vedansh Singh, who has SMA Type 1. He personally stepped in to cover the full medical expenses and arranged treatment at Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital.
A crowd funding campaign is being led by 26-year-old Mumbai-based influencer Mayuresh Gujar. He had been raising funds across Mumbai for nearly a month. His team reportedly collected ₹2.22 crore through public donations before the encounter with Anant on September 21.
According to Gujar, he and his team were seeking donations near Lalbaugcha Raja when Ambani noticed their banner. He immediately stopped his carcade and asked the details. Ambani then assured him that he would sponsor the treatment and asked him to connect with his team.

What is SMA or Spinal Muscular Atrophy
Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a genetic disease affecting the central nervous system, peripheral nervous system, and voluntary muscle movement (skeletal muscle).
Most of the nerve cells that control muscles are located in the spinal cord, which accounts for the word spinal in the name of the disease.
SMA is muscular because its primary effect is on muscles, which don’t receive signals from these nerve cells. Atrophy is the medical term for getting smaller, which is what generally happens to muscles when they’re not stimulated by nerve cells.
SMA involves the loss of nerve cells called motor neurons in the spinal cord and is classified as a motor neuron disease. (Source: MDA)
