lpg cylinder price hike

LPG cylinder price hike from October 1, to rise by Rs. 62.50 in Delhi. This rise for 19-liter cylinder will raise the prices of restaurant food and daily items.

Further reports say that, there has also been a rise in the aviation turbine fuel (ATF) rates by Rs.  16 per litre from October 1. This is sure to make flight tickets dearer.

However, household consumers will not be affected as the rates for the 14.2-kg domestic cylinder remains unchanged.

It is worth mentioning here that, the LPG pricing is influenced by international LPG benchmarks and currency movements. PPAC that is the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell maintains data on petroleum prices and LPG in India. This organization comes under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

State-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) have thus been forced to increase commercial LPG rates by Rs. 62.50 per 19-kg cylinder effective from Thursday.

Another matter worth mentioning here is, that the waiting period for LPG refill booking reduced to 25 days in both urban and rural areas. This news was confirmed by Minister Suressh Gopi on his official Facebook page.

According to reports, the Minister of State for Tourism and Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India Suressh Gopi said, “Considering the pressure in LPG distribution in the wake of the Middle East conflict, the interval for refill booking was 25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas.”

Recently a clarification had been issued by the Government on the waiting period for LPG refill, “It has come to the notice of the Government that certain news reports and social media posts are claiming revised LPG refill booking timelines that is 45 days for PMUY connections, 25 days for non-PMUY single bottle connections, and 35 days for non-PMUY double bottle connections.”
