Severe flood in Bangkok has thrown life out of gear. The city has been declared a disaster zone amid widespread flooding.
All 50 districts have been declared disaster areas as heavy rain continues, with more rain expected through September 27.
Nearly 300mm of rain has been experienced since Friday afternoon, with eastern parts of the Thai capital among the hardest hit. More heavy rain is forecast through Sunday.
The flood in Bangkok has been a matter of major concern, as businesses have been shut down completely. The visuals of the city seem straight out of a disaster movie. Cars were seen floating on the roads, severe traffic snarls were seen in areas with little less flooding.
It is worth mentioning here that, this kind of flooding had happened back in 2011 but locals say that this time it is worse. Back then hundreds of people had died. But this time no casualties have been reported till now.
The Thai Meteorological Service has forecast more heavy rain through the week due to the low pressure area. All 50 of Bangkok’s districts have been declared as emergency zones.
