Food safety raid in Puri heavy fines imposed on khaja makers, said reliable reports. Food safety raid in Puri were held on various Khaja shops and Gaja manufacturing factories near Jagannath Temple in Puri.
According to police teams including the Food and Supply Department have been conducting raids since this morning. It was alleged that devotees coming to the temple were buying Khaja and the Khaja was being prepared in an unhygienic manner.
And since this relates to the sentiments of devotees and the public, the Khajas manufacturing hubs are being inspected. During the inspection, it was found that they were using domestic gas cylinders. Hence the team seized it as per law.
During this raid, the quality of Khaja, manipulation in weight, packaging and food safety license of Khaja were checked. The City DSP has informed that if the fake or low-quality Khaja has been seized.
Further, strict action has been taken against the traders. Fines have been levied and unhygienically manufactured Khajas have been destroyed.
