In the accident death of minor in Sorada of Ganjam district, Odisha CM granted an ex-gratia amount of Rs. 4 lakh, said reliable reports.
According to reports, in a bus accident in Sorada a minor girl died after being run over. The accident occurred near Dhaupada village under the Sorada police station limits in Ganjam district in Odisha.
The private bus was enroute from Berhampur to Sorada when it run over the girl near Dhaupada, causing her to be crushed underneath the vehicle. The deceased is a 6-year-old, she belongs to the nearby village. Following the incident, agitated locals staged a road blockade.
The Asika SDPO arrived at the scene and pacified the crowd. A large number of locals had gathered at the accident site, expressing their resentment over the girl’s death.
Traffic was disrupted due to the road blockade by the agitated locals. Police arrived at the scene and attempted to bring the situation under control. The police held discussions with the agitated crowd and pacified them. Efforts are underway to clear the road blockade and restore normal traffic flow.
Meanwhile, the police are investigating the exact cause of the bus accident in Sorada and the role of the bus driver. A pall of gloom has descended on the family and the local area following the incident.
Later, the CM posted on X that an amount of Rs. 4 lakh shall be granted to the nearest of kin of the deceased.
