The first preparatory meeting for this Bhubaneswar Balijatra 2026 was held under the chairmanship of Yashobanta Ojha. The main aim is making the event more attractive, beautiful, organized, and successful.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Sports, Higher Education, and Odia Language, Literature and Culture, Suryabanshi Suraj. Other members included the Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, former MLA Priyadarshi Mishra, BJP District President Niranjan Mishra, senior leader Jagannath Pradhan, and Bhubaneswar Bali Jatra 2026 Committee Secretary Subas Patra. Along with officials from various departments and committee members.
During the meeting, emphasis was placed on further popularizing the Bhubaneswar Bali Jatra. It will be promoted as a key symbol of Odia identity, heritage, and rich maritime tradition. A call was made for collective efforts to convey the historical significance of the Bali Jatra and the glorious legacy of Odia identity to future generations.
Discussions were also held regarding the expansion of the event this year, including plans to set up more stalls and invite cultural troupes from other states. Various proposals and suggestions were discussed to ensure a mega event.
Priority will be given to Odia art, culture, cuisine, handicrafts, and traditions. The focus will be on inter-departmental coordination, efficient management, visitor amenities, security, and discipline.
