Illegal prawn gherries in Chilika destroyed on Thursday, said reliable reports in this regard. The illegal enclosures for shrimp cultivation have been removed from Chilika today.
According to reliable reports, on the instructions of the Puri District Collector 620 acres of enclosures under Krushnaprasad Tehsil in Puri district was destroyed.
Further it is worth mentioning here that the nets, bamboo poles, and other materials used in making the Illegal prawn gherries in Chilika were set on fire and destroyed completely.
The entire operation was carried out in the presence of the police so that any untoward incident could be avoided. Further detailed reports awaited in this regard.
