A special committee has been formed to inspect unsafe buildings. The committee will submit a report within 15 days. Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra has directed the officials to expedite action against buildings that pose a threat to public safety.

Unsafe government and private buildings will be inspected and notices will be issued. The focus will be on unsafe buildings in Cuttack and Puri. The inspection team will conduct a detailed inspection of the dangerous buildings. If the building is found to be weak the Urban Development Department will demolished it and a new one will be constructed.

If the government buildings of other departments are in a dilapidated state, the concerned departments will be informed. Even if they are private, they will be notified.

Then, action will be taken on the unsafe buildings that come under the department, the minster . If they belong to other departments, government will coordinate with them. A notice will be given several before demolition.
